IDCA Signs Strategic Deal with The Bahamas on National Data Center, Sovereign Digital Infrastructure, and Digital Hub to Unleash the Digital Economy

Nassau, The Bahamas – On July 29th, The Right Honorable Philip Davis, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, hosted the IDCA delegation on a strategic framework for advancing the country's digital infrastructure, digital economy, and long-term AI readiness. The International Data Center Authority and The Bahamas signed a strategic deal to advance the nation’s sovereign capabilities, including but not limited to the national data center, energy security, financing and investment structuring, international exchange, and a digital hub to enable and empower the digital economy. The partnership represents a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between IDCA and the Government of The Bahamas as the nation accelerates its digital transformation agenda.

The IDCA delegation was joined by consortium partners including IDCA Global Foundation, Aton Path, the flagship Accessibility Energy Bank initiative, and IDCA’s local partner in the Bahamas, Bahamas Technological Services Ltd. (BTSL), to deliver the agreed sovereign digital infrastructure program designed to position The Bahamas as a leading digital hub for the Caribbean. The proposal builds upon discussions initiated during the United Nations General Assembly in New York. It outlines a long-term vision for developing world-class digital infrastructure that supports economic diversification, AI adoption, and sustainable digital growth.

During the talks between the IDCA leadership and the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, the dialogue focused on developing a Bahamian-led digital hub anchored in Nassau, with the potential to expand to additional locations throughout the country. The initiative seeks to strengthen national digital capabilities through globally recognized standards, strategic planning, investment readiness, and the development of resilient digital infrastructure supporting future AI, cloud, and digital economy initiatives.

IDCA Chairman and CEO, Mehdi Paryavi, stated, "The Bahamas has the opportunity to become a strategic digital gateway for the Caribbean by combining its geographic advantages with world-class digital infrastructure, strong public policy, and a long-term vision for AI and digital economy development. IDCA is pleased to support the Government of The Bahamas in building a resilient, investment-ready digital ecosystem that delivers lasting economic value for future generations."

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for The Bahamas to tap into the global experiences of IDCA and what we bring to the table both in terms of technocommercial expertise as well as the wide resources and in-depth access to ensure that the nation can create economic benefits for its citizens through the merits of AI and digital economy, while preserving its national security and ensuring its national sovernighty,” stated Dr. Simona Marinescue, CEO of IDCA Global Foundation.

The recent engagement with the Bahamas reinforces IDCA's commitment to partnering with governments worldwide to develop national digital infrastructure strategies, establish global digital hubs, national governance and standards, national workforce development, strengthen AI readiness, and create sustainable digital economies. Through such strategic collaborations, DCA continues to support nations in building the digital foundations required for long-term economic growth and global competitiveness.

As The Bahamas advances its national digital transformation strategy, IDCA looks forward to continued collaboration with government stakeholders and industry partners to help position the country as a leading digital infrastructure and digital economy hub for the Caribbean.
