Bhutan Has Its First AI Company
Two young engineering students in Bhutan have created the country's first AI startup, called NoMindBhutan. The company's founders are working “to innovate, adapt, and transform the way people interact with AI.”
Bhutan, the small Himalayan country of fewer than a million people that introduced the concept of Gross National Happiness (also going by Gross Domestic Happiness), is considered a Frontier Market. Yet its steady and relatively robust recent digital infrastructure development places it within the world's Top 30 performers according to the IDCA Digital Readiness Index. It's similar in performance to a couple of other small, perhaps unlikely nations in other parts of the world, namely Georgia and Costa Rica.
