IDCA Leads the Energy Transition Discussion at Commonwealth Forum
London – May 22, 2025 – The IDCA delegation, led by its Chairman and CEO, Mehdi Paryavi, led a discussion focused on the energy transition that is needed to enable true digital transformation for the oncoming AI era, at the 4th Biennial Commonwealth Sustainable Energy Forum, Marlborough House, London. Participating nations at the summit included the UK, India, Bahamas, South Africa, Mauritius, Tanzania, Cyprus, Nigeria, Kenya, Kiribati, Ghana, Uganda, Seychelles, Namibia, and more.
The Forum drew senior officials from the ministries, departments and agencies with responsibility for the energy sector across the Commonwealth. It is organized under the Commonwealth Sustainable Energy Transition (CSET) Agenda, a platform for collaborative action among member countries and development partners to accelerate the transition to low carbon energy systems. It is aligned with achieving the Paris Agreement climate change and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) for SDG 7 on access to
affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030, according to the Commonwealth Secretariat.
“The CSET agenda is anchored on three the three key pillars of technology and innovation, inclusive transitions, and enabling frameworks,” according to Paryavi. “This year's Forum presented a great opportunity for knowledge sharing and consensus building among Commonwealth nations, which are drawn from the diverse, global constituency of all nations that have a common goal of not only addressing the Paris Agreement but setting themselves up for the enormous challenge of providing enough sustainable energy for the AI-driven development that's already happening.”IDCA worked with CSET team and the Commonwealth Economic Advisors to deliver its message to this global audience. According to a CSET statement, “the ever-proliferating AI data centers and equally competing demands for power and water would need to be carefully managed. Innovation and digitalization are key enablers in the acceleration of the energy transition and create more economic opportunities for both consumers and producers. Significant reductions in carbon emissions and pollution levels contribute to better public health and environmental sustainability.”
“IDCA has taken a leadership role in preparing the world for sustainable, AI-driven Digital Economies, through its research, thought leadership, strategy and policy initiatives, investment initiatives, government support, and workforce development activities,” added Paryavi. “The leaders present at the Forum in London will refelect on the conversation we had to continue to exert their own respective leadership within their countries, to improve the lives of their people and accelerate their digital economic growth.”
