IDCA Chairman meets the Portuguese President on Digital Economy

Washington, D.C., November 14th 2018: International Data Center Authority (IDCA) today announces that Chairman of IDCA, Mr. Mehdi Paryavi, has met with the Dr. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, The President of the Portuguese Republic at the National Palace of Belém (Palácio Nacional de Belém), Lisbon, Portugal.
IDCA has been present in the nation of Portugal in order to help Portugal transform its state into a modern and pioneering Digital Economy. Series of meetings and workshops with industry pioneers, officials, investors, legal advisors, environmentalists, deans of major universities, mayors, and government officials, as well as the President of the Portuguese Republic have taken place to aid the effort. IDCA’s agenda for Portugal have included but are not limited to:
- - Establishing Digital Road Map for Portugal;
- - Aiding Portugal to Become a Pioneer of True Digital Economy;
- - Building the necessary Educational Backbone for the Application Ecosystem (Cloud, Data Centers, IoT, AI, Analytics, etc.) and developing the necessary human capital in Portugal;
- - Building National Standards that are Modern, Coherent and Suited for Portuguese Terrains;
- - Enticing Digital Infrastructure Investment to Portugal;
Carla Mia, Chairwoman of IDCA Economic Development, Portuguese Chapter, stated, “This is an amazing moment for Portugal and the IT industry. We have come a long way and enjoy the support of visionary officials at highest offices, investors and the public to make Portugal a pioneer in Europe, with IDCA’s help.”
During the meeting with the President of Portugal, both parties discussed the importance of transforming the lives of ordinary civilians and elevating their standards of living through the digital economy initiatives; being present in Portugal consistently and having long-term plans both in terms of human resources and capital; as well as durations of projects and amounts of investment. During the meeting with Dr. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, The President of the Portuguese Republic, Chairman of IDCA, Mehdi Paryavi stated, in reference to the President’s speech at the WebSummit 2018, “Mr. President, the best way you could elevate the standards of living and accelerate the prosperity for a nation is the “digital economy”, and by creating the right platforms that can foster such prosperity.” Mr. Mehdi Paryavi continued, “This is only achievable if you build the right road map for a national or continent in order to not become a mere consumer market, rather exporter of ideas, information, knowledge and expertise to the word.” The meeting was concluded with photographs, handshakes and pledge to present/review the development progress with the President in the near future.
