Building a better world for all...
Chicago, IL, March 19th 2019: International Data Center Authority (IDCA) today announces that Chairman of IDCA, Mr. Mehdi Paryavi, was the keynote speaker at Chicago Data Center & Cloud Infrastructure Summit.
IDCA’s Chairman, Mehdi Paryavi, opened the Cloud and Data Center Conference in Chicago with his keynote on the notion of international adoption of Cloud in tandem with the digital economy.
Continuing the conversation on an evolving industry, Mehdi Paryavi provided insights on topics pertaining to Cloud, Edge, Colocation, Digital Economy, Hyperscale. Mr. Paryavi highlighted thriving demand for Cloud globally and reiterated key adoption essentials and necessities for the cloud industry, 2019 forecasts of Cloud adoption within various global regions, the past and the future and how our industry will evolve. Mr. Paryavi, in his speech, provided industry's state of affairs on:
- How is private enterprise adopting cloud infrastructure in the various global regions?
- What countries are “leading the pack” and why?
- What are obstacles, and perceived obstacles to cloud adoption in the U.S., and why?
- What is the most significant change coming in 2019 on the provider side?
- How is enterprise end-user mindset likely to change in 2019?
- How will the U.S.-Chinese trade war impact the data center industry in 2019?
"The IDCA provides guidance to the “data” center industry. We are pioneering the digital economy and digital transformation as effectively as it gets. Note that, we typically put the “data” in quotations though because we are more focused on that aspect. Unfortunately, the traditional way of looking at data centers is more about the UPS and generators and everything but the actual data and what deals with data, which is what data center is built to facilitate. So we advise on power and cooling etc., but we also pay attention to the IT infrastructure and the actual data being transmitted to and from these facilities. The way we advise and provide guidance in the industry is by providing standards. We constantly research and develop standards for the industry. We have an open door policy to bring professionals from around the world to join our committees to help build their own industry through a collective effort. Experts from Expedia, Microsoft, AIG, LinkedIn, Visa, Bloomberg, Comcast, CBRE, Adobe, etc. have gathered in one place to make a difference, to share their experiences and try to fill the gaps in the industry based on their knowledge and know-how.", Mr. Paryavi said.
Furthermore, Everett Thompson, member of IDCA Technical Standards Committee conducted the mid-day keynote on “Changing the Game”, addressing the usage of infrastructure demand response (“IDR”) to drive the epic and avoid stranded capacity in hybrid cloud and data center portfolio planning and development.
Mr. Thompson’s speech rendered specifics as to:
- How do we improve capital efficiency and avoid stranded capacity?
- What is the root-cause of over-provisioning in our industry?
- What are the barriers to integrated data center and IT (Cloud) planning and why?
- $/kW, TCO… how are trade-offs in hybrid architectures (data centers vs cloud) measured?
- What enables just-in-time capacity across hybrid (data center vs cloud) infrastructure?
Both keynotes were were deemed widely informative and conclusive to the Chicago’s Data Center and Cloud Conference.
